Over €300 was raised for North Tipperary Hospice in the school last week
Opening of Year Service
Coláiste Phobal held our annual Opening of Year Service in St Cronan’s Church on Monday last. It is always a special occasion and a nice way for us all to begin the new academic year, coming together with a focus on the year ahead.
6th Year Higher Options
On Wednesday 20th September, 6th year students, accompanied by their Guidance Counsellors and School Chaplin attended the Higher Options & World Skills Conference in Ballsbridge in Dublin.
180 Universities and Higher Educational Institutes had stands at the Higher Options, giving students the opportunities to discuss college courses and entry procedures in Ireland and abroad.
After students attended career talks and stands of interest to them, the students and their teachers walked across in the sunshine to the Simmons Court Pavilion.
There they could watch 160 finalists compete across 30 live National Competition Finals and see the various apprenticeships in action. They were able to receive information at the Education and Career zones on their specific area of interests and some had the opportunity to try out a particular skill. On the way back to Roscrea, we stopped in Newbridge where some students opted for food, others for retail therapy and a few managed to fit in both in the 40 minutes. A good day was had by all. Thank you to Fr. Lorcan, Ms. Leyne and Mr. Brien who travelled with the students.
