Ireland is in for plenty of wet weather this week but Met Eireann is holding out hope for a return to summer weather in its latest weather forecast for Ireland.

According to Met Eireann, low pressure is set to dominate early in the week with a trend towards a more settled regime driven by high pressure later in the week. Temperatures will recover from below average this weekend to near normal values for July.

According to Met Eireann, Monday will start off mainly dry with sunny spells. Scattered showers will break out as the day goes on. It will become cloudier in Munster and south Leinster with rain and drizzle developing in the southeast in the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with light easterly breezes.

Mainly dry in the north and west at first on Monday night with clear spells, but cloudier conditions further south with outbreaks of rain and drizzle gradually spreading further north overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees with light northeast or variable breezes.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the east, with the best of any drier and brighter intervals in coastal fringes of the west and north. Highs of 16 to 20 degrees in a light to moderate northerly breeze.

On Tuesday night, rain will push northwards with outbreaks of rain in the east and north, and clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh northwest winds.

According to Met Eireann, Wednesday will be a mostly cloudy and damp day in the east and north with brighter, sunnier intervals elsewhere. Highs of 15 to 20 degrees with mostly moderate northwest winds, fresh to strong along west and southwest coasts.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Thursday will be mostly cloudy in northern and eastern parts with rain or showers tracking southwards, becoming lighter through the day. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees with moderate to fresh northwest winds.

According to Met Eireann, high pressure is currently indicated to become more dominant, at least for a time, with drier and sunnier conditions gradually extending from the west through Friday and the weekend, with temperatures near average for the time of year.
