THIRTY architectural firms have expressed an interest in designing a new state of the swimming pool in Edenderry, it has emerged
The closing date for receipt of applications for the contract is this week local councillor Noel Cribbin has revealed.
He said the pool committee and the county council will work in tandem "to deliver the best possible pool".
Meanwhile, demolition work on the old pool – which served the people of Edenderry and district for over half a century – also began this week.
Cllr Cribbin said people had great memories of the pool over those 50 plus years before it was closed permanently following a devastating fire.

"I have great memories of all the past committees, lifeguards, - Jimmy Coats, Hobby, Jeffry, Jack , Collette, Yvonne , Stan and Brenda - to name only a few of the many who gave of their time to learn thousands to swim and spent many summer days in and around the pool in Edenderry."
"During the week as the news broke that the demolition work was underway many people have passed on their stories and fond memories and best wishes for the new build," said the Fine Gael public representative.
He added that the pool committee is confident "that we can replace the much loved old pool with a new state of the art pool that we can all be proud of."
