Man charged with trespassing on barge in Tullamore

A man who appeared by video link from the Midlands Prison at a recent sitting of Tullamore District Court was charged with trespassing with intent to commit theft.

John Delaney (39) of 82, St Laurence's Fields, Loughrea, Galway, is alleged to have entered a vessel known as the Blue Barge as a trespasser intending to commit theft at Tullamore Harbour on November 4, 2024.

He is also charged with being in possession of cannabis herb on the same date at Henry Street, Tullamore.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns said he is awaiting directions from the DPP in relation to the case.

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to December 18 when either a plea will be entered or a date will be fixed for a hearing.
