'A gentle soul' - Tributes paid following sad and untimely death of young Offaly man

Tributes have been paid following the sad and untimely death of Eric Winkler, late of Banagher, Offaly.

Eric died peacefully at his home on November 20, 2024. He is predeceased by his brother Norman.

Eric will be sadly missed by his parents Jonny and Patty and his sister Erika, by all his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eric, with one mourner writing,

"Rest in heavenly peace Eric. You where the funniest cousin to ever have, my memories I will cherish in my heart forever. God rest your soul be at peace now.. love you. My sincere Condolences to Patty Johnny and Erica."

Another wrote, "my sincere sympathy to the Winkler and Maloney families on the death of Eric. Eric was a member of the LSU Leaving Cert Class of 1997. As a student he contributed much to the life of the school; Always pleasant, he did so in a quiet and unassuming way. It is sad to learn of his passing at such a young age. May he rest in peace."

While another wrote, "my deepest condolences to Eric's family. Gone too soon. May he rest easy with his brother Norman. Rest in Peace Eric."

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning in St. Rynagh’s Church, Banagher at 11am followed by burial in St. Rynagh’s Cemetery.
