FG Offaly candidate, Cllr John Clendennen, has congratulated groups on their 2024 performance and announced that Tidy Towns group across Offaly will be eligible to apply for funding totalling €28,000 for the county in 2025.

Cllr John Clendennen said: “Our Tidy Towns groups in Offaly do such wonderful work to keep our towns and villages shining, and I am delighted to see this reflected in this year’s winners and the funding in recognition of that.

Offaly groups performed extremely well once again in this year’s competition, which was recognised at the awards ceremony in Croke Park on Friday.

These groups showcase the positive impact of community spirit and volunteerism. This is evident each and every week as we see volunteers across Offaly out and about early in the morning and late in the evenings, doing their bit to keep their area looking its best.

We are so lucky to have volunteers who give up their valuable time to their Tidy Towns groups, and without them, Offaly communities would not continue to be the vibrant, sustainable places that they are.

All groups in Offaly who entered the competition will be eligible to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000 for 2025.

A huge amount of appreciation is owed to SuperValu for their continued sponsorship of the competition nationwide, and I know that this generosity is replicated by SuperValu retailers in Offaly communities.

Tidy Towns groups not only keep Offaly shining, but also make a significant contribution to driving biodiversity initiatives, building sustainable communities, and overall aiding in achieving our climate goals.

Fine Gael is committed to building and supporting strong communities, and this funding is further evidence of that.

I want to congratulate groups for their successes in the 2024 competition and encourage them to apply for the 2025 funding.

I look forward to continuing working with Tidy Towns groups in Offaly as they progress more and more positive initiatives to keep our towns and villages thriving and shining,” Cllr Clendennen concluded.
