JUST Forests have just launched their schedule of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) projects for 2024.

Commencing in February 2024, the RIO Series of supplementary Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will consist of ten separate but interlinked projects.

All ten projects are designed to empower participants to act on biodiversity loss, human rights issues and climate action.

The RIO Series Projects includes:

Twelve Steps To Survival In a Time of Climate Change Crisis- very practical steps we can take to get to grips with the challenges ahead.

Casper’s Fund-raising Option’s That Won’t Cost The Earth- alternatives to ’tractor runs’ for community groups, charities, schools and sports clubs as a means of raising funds. This publication will include a number of tried and tested fund-raising projects by Just Forests over the years that are guaranteed to engage all the family and bring in much needed funds for our favourite causes.

Mission Possible - what we will be expected to do both in our professional and private lives to ensure our children inherit a liveable planet
Wood of Life Interactive - Just Forests flagship project. This travelling hands-on exhibition of 22 panels was first launched in Tullamore Public Library in 1990. Over the years it visited schools and public libraries from Carn Donagh in Donegal to Skibbereen in west-Cork. The main character of the exhibition Casper Elder - the talking tree, has been taken out of retirement and work on updating and rejuvenating both the Wood of Life panels and Casper to reflect current trends is currently under way. Casper Elder is Ireland’s most travelled tree stump and has a very important message for the children of Offaly.
Over the years Just Forests facilitated a number of Wood of Life workshops with schools and libraries in Co Offaly.

They are now inviting all charities, community groups, sports clubs and schools in Co Offaly to engage in the RIO Series. There is something for everyone.

A detailed schedule of dates for the launch of each of the ten projects and further information about the project can be obtained from this dedicated website at: http://ecorace2030.com
