‘Family Resource Centres are at the heart of our communities’

Five Family Resource Centres across Tipperary are to receive funding of €10,000 each, including facilities in Roscrea and Thurles.

North Tipperary Fianna Fáil TD, Ryan O’Meara, has welcomed €50,000 in new capital funding for five Family Resource Centres serving communities across North Tipperary and Northwest Kilkenny.

Each centre will receive €10,000 in once-off funding to support locally identified priorities including improvements to premises, accessibility works, equipment, ICT, security and energy-efficiency measures.

The centres receiving funding are: Silver Arch Family Resource Centre, Nenagh; Roscrea Family Resource Centre; Killaloe/Ballina Family Resource Centre; Millennium Family Resource Centre, Glengoole, Thurles and The Mill Family Resource Centre, Urlingford, Kilkenny

Deputy O’Meara said: “Family Resource Centres are at the heart of our communities and provide hugely important supports to children and families right across North Tipperary and Northwest Kilkenny.

“I am delighted to see €50,000 going to these five centres, with each receiving €10,000 to spend on the priorities that matter most locally.

“That could mean improving buildings, making centres more accessible, replacing essential equipment, investing in technology or improving the spaces where families receive support.

“These centres know their communities and the needs of local families better than anyone, so giving them flexibility in how this funding is used is particularly important.

“This investment builds on the increase in core funding secured in Budget 2026, which raised the minimum annual funding for Family Resource Centres from €160,000 to €180,000.

“I want to thank the staff and volunteers in each of these centres for the work they do. This funding will be a great help in continuing to provide vital supports to families across our communities.”

The funding is part of a new €1.36 million capital investment announced by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley TD for Ireland’s 136 Family Resource Centres.
