It looks as if Ireland is going to miss out on a White Christmas this year according to the latest weather forecast for Christmas Day from Met Eireann.
According to Met Eireann, current indications are that Christmas Day will be clear and bright for most areas with just a few showers in the north and northwest. Some of the showers may turn to sleet over higher ground. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees early on, becoming cooler through the day. Light breezes, westerly or variable.
For the last minute shoppers, Christmas Eve is set to be largely cloudy with scattered showers. The showers will remain heaviest along Atlantic coastal counties with the best of the dry intervals towards the east. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, becoming lighter later in the day.
After Christmas Day, Met Eireann says there is considerable uncertainty for the further outlook. Early indications are that conditions will remain unsettled into the early days of next week.
