Man fined for breaking Covid lockdown was on the road for a very romantic reason

A man who said he was travelling to Tubbercurry to get engaged during Covid lockdown was fined at Tullamore District Court.

Patrick Doyle (25) of Littelton, Thurles was stopped at Kennedys Cross, Ballindown, Bir on April 3, 2021 by Garda Brendan Kenny. Garda Kenny told him to go back.

Judge Alec Gabbett said ''I take it we don’t know if he got engaged’’ before fining the man €100.

A passenger travelling in the same car was also fined. Ned O'Reilly (19) of Glengoole, Thurles, Tipperary was fined €100.
