An Offaly hotel has picked up the prestigious Hotel of the Year Award at the inaugural Midlands 103 Hospitality Awards.

The Tullamore Court Hotel got the vote from the judging panel and it held off stiff competition from other high quality establishments across the region to win the title.

Speaking to the Offaly Express today, the General Manager of the Tullamore Court Hotel, Philip O'Brien expressed his delight at the hotel winning the award.

"This is a great achievement for the Tullamore Court Hotel and it is a deserved recognition for the hard work and dedication of all the staff who have played an integral part in our past, current and hopefully ongoing success. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who works in the hotel, and indeed who have worked in the hotel in years past, for their contribution in making us the Best Hotel in the Midlands. There is a lot of hard work gone in over the last 20 years to make the hotel the undoubted success story it is today. I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank all our loyal customers and we will endeavour to continue giving you the high level of customer service and quality that you have come to expect at the Tullamore Court Hotel. I would like to thank Midlands 103 for instigating these awards and we would also like to congratulate all the nominees and award recipients."

The presentation took place at Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise last night.

Among the other Offaly winners was Lough Boora Discovery Park which picked up the Tourist Attraction of the Year Award while the county also picked up two Judges’ Rising Stars Awards. Mary Hensey from the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre picked one up in the Bar Sector while Sarah Alexander, The Central Hotel, Tullamore picked one up for the Hotel Sector.
