First power outages reported in Offaly as Storm Emma arrives

19 ESB customers are now without power between Birr and Kinnitty after a fault was uncovered early this monring.

They properties have been without supply since before 6am on Thursday morning and the ESB estimate that the fault won't be repaired until after 4pm.

The ESB has warned of possible outages throughout the country as Storm Emma brings freezing temperatures, snow and 110km/h gusts.

"We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting these premises and will restore power as quickly as possible," a statement read. 

Crews will be out in the coming days but the ESB warns that their work will be hugely impeded by snow accumulations and dangerous road conditions.
