Offaly braced for 110km/h winds as Met Éireann issues weather warning

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning as the country braces for 110km/h gusts.

Southwest winds are expected to reach mean speeds of between 55 and 65 km/hr, gusting to 110 km/hr at times on Tuesday night.

The national forecaster issued the warning on Monday and it is valid from 8pm on Tuesday evening until 6am on Wednesday, January 24.

The strong winds could result in fallen trees and debris on the roads and motorists are warned to be vigilant for obstacles on the road, to reduce speed and never approach fallen power lines.
