Mr Smyth was a former President of the Cistercian College in Roscrea
The community of Roscrea and surrounding areas are in mourning following the passing of Tipperary councillor and teacher Dan Smyth, who died on Friday, October 3 and who was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Mr Smyth, of ‘San Giovanni’, Streamstown, Roscrea, had been a biology teacher and later president of Cistercian College and previously served as a member of North Tipperary County Council. He died at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Phyl, his children, William, Freda, Margaret, Anna, Thomas and Grace, his grandchildren Sophie, Bláithín, Danny, Liam and Pierce, his sisters Grace, Breeda and Kathleen, brothers Mick, Frank and Willie, son-in-law Karl, daughters-in-law Basia and Carína, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Mr Smyth was predeceased by his parents Bill and Margaret, brother Jim, grandson Caoímhín and sister-in-law Margaret.
