Mixed messages for motorists in the Park Avenue Area as various signs indicate different speeds
Motorists in the Park Avenue area of Tullamore are facing confusion due to contradictory speed limit signs posted within a short stretch of road.
As drivers turn off Convent View into the Tyrell's Road/Park Avenue area, they are met with a 30 km/h speed limit sign. However, the reverse side of this same sign displays a 50 km/h limit just as drivers enter Convent View. To add to the inconsistency, another 50 km/h sign is located on Park Avenue itself though partially obscured and barely visible.
The situation is especially frustrating for learner drivers who take part of their test through Park Avenue. One motorbike test candidate reportedly asked a local resident what the correct speed limit was, only to find the resident unsure due to the conflicting signage.
Adding to the area’s roadside disarray, a no-parking sign was recently knocked askew by a street cleaning vehicle and now leans precariously.
Locals are calling for clarification and prompt action to ensure road safety and consistent signage.
