There were three milestones celebrated at Mountlucas parkrun at the weekend.

Two parkrunners completed their 50th parkrun while one other parkrunner completed their 100th parkrun.

Laura Pentony McKeon was joined by a large group of family in completing her 50th parkrun. She had brought along home baked gingerbread men (and women!) to share with participants, which were gratefully received.

Speaking to Laura after the event, she said "I'm delighted to see my family and friends come today to complete my 50th parkrun. Missing from our group was our eldest daughter, Bernadette, who is in Australia for the Summer but will be completing her 25th parkrun next week in Brisbane."

Bruce Scally, aged just 8 years, was the other parkrunner who completed their 50th parkrun. His Mam had baked him a special cake in celebration of the milestone which was shared out with all in attendance.

Bruce only completed his first parkrun in Spring 2024 so has been very dedicated in attending parkrun since then to reach this significant milestone.

He was joined on the day by his family, including his younger brother Ruben who completed a new personal best (PB) on the day.

Darren Mooney completed his 100th parkrun and was beaming from ear to ear as he ran through the commemorative milestone finish banner.

Darren has been taking part in parkrun since 2018 and has completed 86 of his 100 parkruns at Mountlucas parkrun.

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp.
