Woman pleads guilty to stun gun possession at Portlaoise District Court

An Offaly woman pleaded guilty to possessing a stun gun at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

Agnieszka  Bochenska (46) of 13 Cluain na Greine, Cloneygowan, admitted having the combination stun gun and torch at her address on December 20, 2024.

Garda Sergeant Colin O’Leary said gardaí had searched the house and found the “stun gun disguised as a torch in the bedroom.”

He said the defendant “stated that she didn’t know it was illegal to possess it” and she had no previous convictions. 

Paul Noctor BL said his client “got this as a gift when she was living in Poland.” He said it was battery operated and she didn’t have a charger for it.

He said the woman, who was working at Fastway Couriers, wanted to offer an apology to the court. 

Judge Susan Fay said she would give the woman an opportunity to avoid a conviction. She said she wanted €300 for the court poor box by June 9.

She said the default if the money is not paid is a conviction and a €500 fine.
