Moldovan national given four-year driving ban at Tullamore District Court

A Moldovan national was banned from driving for four years when he was convicted of having no insurance for the second time.

Tullamore District Court heard the latest offence committed by Anatolie Bucur (35), Moorhill Cottages, Clara Road, Tullamore was at Ballykilmurry, Tullamore on June 2 last year.

A plea of guilty was entered by defending solicitor Patrick Martin following the issue of summonses by Garda Gillian McEllin.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns told the court the man had previously been fined €750 for using a vehicle without insurance.

Mr Martin said Mr Bucur was a Moldovan national who had been using a Romanian licence and he appreciated he would be getting a disqualification on this occasion.

The solicitor added that his client was a married man who worked in a meat factory.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €1,000 in addition to the four-year disqualification from driving.
