Offaly motorist fined €350 for having no 'L' plates

A motorist from Geashil was summonsed to the February 5 sitting of Tullamore Court for being a Provisional Learner Driver, but not having 'L' plates on his vehicle nor being accompanied by a qualified driver.

Daniel John Collins, 2 Beechgrove, was stopped by gardai on June 25, 2021 on the M6 Ardan Westmeath.

The court was told he had eleven previous convictions, all for road traffic matters.

The defending barrister David Nugent said his client is 29 years of age, has four children, and is severely burdened by a very high rent for his accommodation.

“He is of good standing and he cooperated fully with the Garda.”

Judge Susan Fay convicted and fined €350.
