One of the stories of the election was the emergence of Sinn Fein's Aoife Masterson in the Tullamore Electoral Area. She received a very impressive 1,216 first preference votes in her first election. A policy advisor from Tullamore, she is one of three Sinn Fein councillors elected to Offaly County Council and one of just four women out of the 19 elected representatives.
