Motorist receives significant fine for parking on double yellow lines in Tullamore

A MOTORIST who parked on double yellow lines failed to pay a fixed charge penalty notice and ended up in court.

Dermot Ward, 4, Kilcruttin, Tullamore, pleaded guilty to the offence which took place at 11.30am on September 12, 2022 at Harbour Street, Tullamore.

Giving evidence, Garda Tom Dunne said Mr Ward had seven previous convictions, three were related to road traffic offences. He also had convictions for public order and criminal damage.

Solicitor Donal Farrelly described the defendant as a 31 year old man with four children. His wife was having a baby at the time.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €250 and gave the defendant three months to pay.
