Teenager tragically killed in quad bike accident in the Midlands

A teenage boy from Portlaoise has died in what Gardaí confirmed was a quad bike accident.

The boy, aged in his mid-teens, lost his life after an incident on Easter Sunday in an incident in the wooded area near Emo.

Gardaí in Portlaoise have confirmed that a teenager lost his life in what they are treating as an accident around 2pm April 9.

The boy was named locally as David Brown.

Son of James and Carmel and brother of Conor and Sarah he was a student of St Mary's CBS.

A loved son and brother he was known as an emerging talent with Portlaoise GAA club as well as lining out for Laois. He has represented Laois in Gaelic games.

His dad James is well known as a painting contractor as well as being Laois County Fire and Rescue Service, attached to the Portlaoise Fire Station.
