A RECENT sitting of Tullamore District Court heard details of a collision between a motorbike and a car which resulted in minor injuries.

Dariusz Hercka, 13 Ayrhill Court, Roscrea was charged with careless driving on May 27, 2022 at Clonad, Killurin, Tullamore.
The defending solicitor Donal Farrelly said Mr Hercka was pleading guilty.

Sergeant James O'Sullivan pointed out that the accident happened on the R421 when the defendant decided to make a u-turn using a side road.

“As he was making this u-turn a motor cyclist crashed into him. The motorcyclist suffered bruising to his legs and ribs.”

Mr Farrelly said Mr Hercka is a Polish national and is 51 years of age.

“He works in Rosderra Meats. He is the only breadwinner therefore the driving licence is vital to him.”

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined the man €350. He didn't disqualify from holding a driving licence.
