1.
Right corner back: Declan Hogan (Tullamore) Declan Hogan was once again very consistent in the Tullamore defence, leading by example and driving his team on. He scarcely put a foot wrong the whole year. Patrick Taaffe of Ferbane was a strong consideration. Jack Bryant tested Taaffe in their first round loss but he got better as it went on and performed well in the big games as well as raiding up field.

2.
Full back: Ciaran Cahill (Ferbane) Ciaran Cahill was in mighty form for Ferbane at full back. A old style, more traditional type full back, he stayed around the house and was rarely seen in the opposition's half of the field. He had some huge games for them, doing a fine marking job on the in-form Nigel Dunne in their semi-final win over Shamrocks and excelling in other games.

3.
Left corner back: Daire McDaid (Tullamore) Daire McDaid is an automatic selection on this team. He was outstanding throughout. Man of the match in the semi-final win over Edenderry, he defended well, was so composed on the ball and got scores when moving into attack. Ferbane's Jack Egan was a contender.

4.
Right half back: Kevin Nugent (Ferbane) Kevin Nugent had the best year of his life for Ferbane. He revelled in the responsibility of captain, got himself into mighty shape and was a key part of their team. Man of the match in their quarter-final win over Rhode when he got forward for three points, he was one of Ferbane's best players this year.
