Full forward: Cian Farrell (Edenderry) Cian Farrell is the second Edenderry player on this team and he gave some of the best individual performances in the championship. He was the top scorer, despite Edenderry not making the final, getting 1-15 of his 2-30 from play. A bundle of energy, he was man of the match and scored six points from play in the quarter-final win over Bracknagh, he rescued a draw with an audacious goal from a mark in the last group game against Ferbane. He was also man of the match in the group win over Durrow and was one of the few Edenderry players to fire on all cylinders in the loss to Shamrocks. Also an automatic choice on the team. Nigel Dunne of Shamrocks and Ferbane's Joe Maher also had some great games and were considered.

Left corner forward: Harry Plunkett (Tullamore) Tullamore are a strange animal in that they are so successful, so hard to beat, despite not possessing a star scoring forward in the Cian Farrell mould. They are so effective because they are masters at playing to a system, every man knows what he is expected to do and generally does it. Harry Plunkett was very important to Tullamore and had his best season for them. He was their top scorer by a mile, kicking 33 points, nine of them from play. With Tullamore generally not willing to take pops unless there is clear chances, this was a very important contribution and he missed very few frees – there are times when a player will take on the unlikely shot and Diarmuid Egan certainly did this in the county final, blazing one wide but then scoring a spectacular injury time one to give them a vital two point cushion. Harry Plunkett doesn't have the blistering pace of a Cormac Egan, Cathal Flynn or Cian Farrell but he is a very tidy, composed player who plays the percentage game very well. A big difference in him this year was that his work rate, on and off ball, was much higher as he tracked back and tackled more dilgently and he edges out Ferbabne's Darragh Flynn, who showed great opportunism at times. There was a temptation to go with Bracknagh's Mikey Cunningham, who got some great scores from play and frees – the two goals he got in the quarter-final loss to Edenderry were among the highlights of the championship but Plunkett's calm, collected play, his great accuracy for Tullamore warrants his inclusion.
