RTE Late Late viewers all say the same thing after 'awkward' show on Friday night
RTE Late Late Show viewers were bemused last night as Hollywood star Jean Claude Van Damme made a bizarre appearance.
Patrick Kielty excitedly welcomed the action movie hero to the stage for a chat about celebrating his 63rd birthday and launching his own Irish whiskey brand, Old Oak. Fans of the show took to X, formerly Twitter, to point out one thing - Van Damme's seemingly uncontrollable sweating.
Van Damme even took part in a martial arts demonstration on the show with host Patrick Kielty donning a pair of tights to join in.
The 'Muscles from Brussels' then stuck around on the sofa as Irish football legend Liam Brady was introduced to talk about his new book, providing another awkward group interview on the new series of the show which ended with Liam kissing Van Damme on the head after being gifted a bottle of his whiskey.
Viewers took to social media to share their often hilarious takes on the exchanges.
One man said "Jean Claude Van Damme sweating like a Cavan man on a Toll road!!"
Cavan bore the brunt of another quip: "Van Damme sweating like a Cavan man at a whip-around"
"He's sweating like a wax work that's melting," another joked.
Another users claimed Kielty's martial arts showcase with Van Damme was "new levels of cringe" while someone else said it was hilarious.
They said: "Absolutely fantastic Late Late show tonight Patrick Kielty blends important chat with guests with humour he is way funny, I really hope the we all get behind him as he is trying to bring a new demographic to the LateLate blending with The the blond curl brigade."

Others were quick to comment on the fact Van Damme was left on stage for Liam Brady's interview, which resulted in some odd exchanges between the pair, including Liam explaining to the Belgian that he had bad experiences playing in Brussels as a player.
"There was a definite 'way too late in the residents bar' vibe about the conversation between Liam Brady and JCVD," one joked.
A final tweet summed up the feeling: "Jean-Claude Van Damme on the same panel as Liam Brady was not on my #latelate Bingo card tonight…"
