The Tipperary TD said he wants to see a ‘fair resolution and avoid further industrial action’

Commenting on the ongoing strike by Ambulance workers on Thursday morning, Independent North Tipperary TD, Michael Lowry, has urged agreement on the current dispute.

Deputy Lowry said he feels there is a need for “compromise and consideration of the legitimate concerns” raised by National Ambulance providers.

“I am calling on the HSE and the unions representing ambulance workers to use tomorrow’s Labour Court talks to reach a fair resolution and avoid further industrial action,” the Tipperary TD said.

The National Ambulance Service provides a vital frontline emergency service to communities across the country, and it is important that the service continues to evolve and meet the growing demand., he said.

“The paramedics and emergency medical technicians delivering that care every day are central to its success, and their concerns need to be properly heard and addressed.

“This is not a dispute about pay, this goes beyond financial consideration and includes issues surrounding rotas, roles, overtime and the correct resourcing for a critical service.”

Deputy Lowry said the dispute has been deeply worrying for members of the public who rely on the National Ambulance Service, particularly in emergency situations.

“I want to acknowledge the professionalism shown by ambulance crews who continued to respond to critical and life-threatening calls during the recent industrial action. Their commitment is clear to the people of Ireland.

“Both sides now need to engage constructively, with the goal of reaching an agreement that protects patients, supports frontline staff on every level and prevents further disruption to emergency services,” Deputy Lowry said.
