“We extend our deepest sympathies to Frankie and all of his family members at this sad time. As a mark of respect our U-16 championship fixed for Wednesday evening has been deferred until further notice.

“May Alo rest in peace,” the post added.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. May you find strength and comfort in the love and support of those around you. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam”.

It was noted that Alo was from an old Tullamore family. The Keeley family had deep business and musical roots in the town.

Mr Kelly’s death notice on RIP.ie read: “Alo passed away unexpectedly on the 20th of July.

“He is pre-deceased by his parents Colbert and Arabella and his first wife Frances. Alo will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving wife Frances (Loonam) and his children Andrea, Annmarie, Sophie, AJ, Lauren and Warren, his adored granddaughters Molly and Marley.

“Deeply regretted by his brothers Paddy, Thomas, Peter, Paul and Michael, sisters Elizabeth, Anne and Mary, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and his many friends”.

Neighbours on Davitt Street noted that Alo always planted and maintained flower boxes and hanging baskets to keep the street looking its best.

In condolences on RIP.ie, the Boyce family of Davitt Street wrote: “Alo was a wonderful neighbour whose kindness and generosity touched everyone on our street. Year after year, he took responsibility for our streets hanging flower baskets and neighbours’ window boxes, refusing payment and always wanting to make the neighbourhood a brighter place. He was always out and about with a smile, a story, the latest news, and a great sense of humour that brought people together.

“He will be greatly missed, but his kindness, community spirit, and friendship will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace”.

Shane and Emer Murray and family wrote: “Alo was a great neighbour, we enjoyed many a chat and a laugh with him over the years…he will be sadly missed by us all on Davitt St. May Alo’s gentle soul now rest in eternal peace”.
