The aim of the program is to actively engage the public in architecture thus creating an awareness and appreciation of our built heritage. It has been very successful and well attended over the last couple of years.

This year’s primary school project ‘ Building Our Towns’ featured a workshop which introduced primary schools to the practical problem solving of spaces and places in their towns, creating a reality to their ideas and potential for them to see how they can be realised. The workshop was facilitated by Jennifer Dillon (Design hub). Eleven schools participated in the workshop, they looked at the vacant areas in their towns/villages and examined how these could be utilised in a better way. The works shown in the Aras are a result of those workshops.
