WATCH: Motorists urged to use caution as road conditions deteriorating in heavy snow

Motorists in Offaly are being urged to use caution on the roads today as heavy snow is making driving conditions dangerous in places.

Snow is sticking on roads in parts of the county and the heavy snow is also affecting visibility.

Met Eireann has issued a Snow-ice Warning for Munster, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon.

The warning is in place from 2pm on Sunday and runs until 8am on Monday morning.

Met Eireann says that heavy rain will turn to sleet and snow today. Much of the snow will be above 300 metres with just a local dusting of snow at lower levels. Wet and slushy roads are likely to become icy in places overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.
