Offaly has woken up under a blanket of snow this morning as the much hyped Beast from the East finally arrived. 

Motorists are being urged to drive with caution on snow covered roads, particularly secondary roads. 

More snow is expected today and tonight as the worst of the forecast snow has yet to arrive.
