Visibility on Offaly roads is deteriorating this evening as the first snow from the Beast from the East falls.
Offaly is under a Status Yellow snow and ice warning since 6pm on Tuesday evening with around 3cm of snow expected overnight.
These were the conditions in the North Offaly town of Edenderry at around 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.
Similar conditions have been reported across the North of the county, including Bracknagh, Rhode and Clonbullogue.
Met Eireann has said that there will be widespread icy conditions and frost on Wednesday morning along with a blanket of snow, but warns the worst is still to come.
Thursday night could bring up to 30cm of snow with temperatures dipping to minus 6 degrees.
