WATCH: Strong winds and snow lead to blizzard like conditions in Offaly

Temperatures expected to drop below freezing tonight

Strong winds and driving snow have led to blizzard like conditions in Offaly this evening making driving hazardous.

As our video shows, visibility has been very poor during the snowfalls with the wind exacerbating the conditions.

Snow has accumulated on some main roads with many back roads being treacherous this evening.

A Status Yellow Snow and Ice Warning is in place for this evening from Met Eireann with the National Forecaster predicting further snow showers tonight with 1 to 3 cm of snow expected. Temperatures are also set to fall below freezing overnight.
