WATCH: Brian Cowen meets the Hardy Bucks in Tullamore

As the National Ploughing Championships continued on just outside Tullamore on Thursday, there was plenty of craic to be had in the town itself with Hardy Buck Martin Maloney around.

The man behind the deadpan and deadbeat Eddie Durkan from the hit RTE series and film was in Tullamore to play a comedy gig at Hugh Lynch's Pub on Thursday.

It was there he bumped into former Taoiseach Brian Cowen and eyed a chance at a bit of high-profile publicity.

He certainly got the seal of approval from the retired politician as he told people to catch the show in Tullamore and again tonight, Friday, in the Workman's in Dublin.

Eddie, the chancer, even hinted at a double act, suggesting himself and Cowen were heading on a nationwide tour. The former Taoiseach seemed less keen but gave the Hardy Bucks star the big thumbs up.

Maloney's show went down well with punters in Hugh Lynch's as he brought his unique and very very Irish brand of humour to the stage.
