Offaly footballers named on Tailteann Cup team of the year
Offaly footballers honoured for Tailteann Cup performances
TWO Offaly senior footballers have been named on the Tailteann Cup team of the year. The team was selected by a panel of gaelic games correspondents and Dylan Hyland (Raheen) and Jack McEvoy (Clonbullogue) have been selected on the half forward line.
Offaly went to the sem-finals where they were beaten by eventual winners Wicklow. In control at half time, Offaly collapsed in the second half, suffering a disappointing defeat that ended Declan Kelly's and Mickey Harte's reign as joint managers.
Both Hyland and McEvoy were in outstanding form in the campaign with Hyland getting some sensational scores. McEvoy played his best football for Offaly in 2026, mainly at midfield, though he has been selected out of position on the half forward line in the team of the year.
The awards will be presented in Croke Park this evening, though Hyland won't be there as he has gone travelling – there is speculation about his availability for Offaly next year.
