Tullamore lose out to Birr in the semi final of the Grant Engineering Intermediate Cup

Great credit to all players who trained, played matches and participated in the club Summer Camp over the last week in very hot weather conditions and great credit to all our coaches/mentors who looked after them safely.

Tullamore lose out to Birr in the semi final of the Grant Engineering Intermediate Cup

Tullamore qualified for the semi-final of this competition which is a competition played without county players. Opponents Birr finished at the top of the league table so this was expected to be a challenging game for Tullamore who had to field without key players who were unavailable. Great credit to Grace Scully for stepping into the breach to fill the position of goalkeeper and to Claire Cantwell. Both played their part in keeping scores at bay for Birr. The game was closely contested with little between the teams at the early stages of the game. Tullamore found it hard to secure scores with Birr’s defenders giving them no room to strike. At HALF TIME Birr had 6 points on the scoreboard to Tullamore’s 2 points. Whilst Tullamore found their scoring power in the second half it was not enough to contain the hold that Birr had on the game and so Birr ran out deserved winner on a FULL TIME SCORE BIRR 1-11 TULLAMORE 0-7

Tullamore continue winning run with victory over Birr in Hynes Driving School Minor Championship

Tullamore's U18 girls kept their unbeaten run going with a convincing win over Birr in Clareen on Monday the 13th of July, in what was the first time the Tullamore girls have played on the Clareen pitch, with Birr's home games usually played at St Brendan's Park.

Birr made the brighter start, catching the Tullamore defence napping as they raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening exchanges. But once Tullamore stopped admiring the Clareen surrounds, they clicked into gear, with the back line settling into brilliant defending for the remainder of the game to shut Birr out for long periods.

Alara Pehilvan was the star of the show, finishing with a personal tally of 5-1, all from play. Lily Marie Dolan was also among the goals with a return of 1-3, while Grace Scully and Emma Francis 3-2 both chipped in with important scores to help settle the Tullamore side. Rachel Cunningham enjoyed a fine afternoon in front of the posts too, finishing with 1-05 to her name, Anna Maunsell also got in on the goal-scoring act with 2 great goals while Alice Walsh defender turned attacker  added a well-taken point from play.

In the middle of the park, Maeve Duffy adding a suburb goal, was excellent throughout, while Jennifer Rigney put in a strong display at centre back.

The result sees Tullamore top their group with 6 points from three wins out of three. They now progress to the Minor semi-final against local rivals St Sinchill's on Tuesday the 28th of July, a fixture that will be played on home soil for the Tullamore girls in Dr Kelly's Field.

The other semi-final promises to be another mouth-watering contest, with St Cillian's Lusmagh taking on Drumcullen for a place in the final.

Tullamore edge thrilling battle with St Rynagh’s in the O Meara’s Sliotars U-16 Championship

Tullamore’s U16 girls made the trip to Banagher on Thursday evening to take on St Rynagh’s, looking to secure their second win of the championship. As always there was never much to separate these two sides, and Thursday’s clash was no different, with Tullamore just about stealing victory on a scoreline of 6-10 to 4-10.

Ailbhe Coll led the scoring with 3-3, while Grace Scully was also among the goals with a return of 2-3. Kelly Dunne chipped in with 1-2, and Alara Phelarvin and Holly Lynch both contributed a point apiece from play.

Both sides were missing key players on the night due to holidays and Gaeltacht commitments, but the younger U14 girls who stepped up for Tullamore did fantastically well and were excellent throughout.

As an added treat, all the girls brought a change of gear, with the squad enjoying a quick dip in the new poolside arrangements on the River Shannon afterwards — a welcome way to cool down after a very hot day.

Tullamore now face Birr next in round 4 on Thursday the 30th of July, before taking on Edenderry on Saturday the 1st of August in the postponed first-round game.

DOUBLE VICTORY FOR U14 TEAMS

The first of our under 14 teams lined out on Monday in Banagher to play St Rynaghs in the 4th Round of the KBuggy Coaches u14 championship. This team had full points from their previous 2 matches and had a bye in the 3rd Round. On a very warm Monday evening, the pitch in Banagher was in great condition and lent itself to a great game of camogie. Keeper Eva Fitzpatrick made a couple of saves in each half. The defenders held their ground well with Abbie Duffy to the fore. The joint captains combined well at midfield whilst Meabh Martin put over good frees she was ably assisted by her forward players with Lily Bourke amassing 3-2. FULL TIME SCORE St Rynaghs 0-04 Tullamore 3-06

BLUE TEAM: Eva Fitzpatrick, Amaya Matsushita, Ena Kelly, Chantelle Ward, Zoe McMahon, Abbie Duffy, Isabel Coyne, Abby Lynch (JC), Alicia Holton (JC), Penny Carroll, Makalya Killeavey, Méabh Martin 0-04 (3fs) Millie May Lawlor, Lily Bourke 3-02, Ella Sheridan, Annabel Donegan, Bridgita Matic, Emma Walsh, Lexi Kane.

The game was followed by a dip in the Banagher swimming pool!

Our second u14 team had home venue when they played Kinnitty in their 4th round match. Played in warm conditions and as usual Dr Kelly’s pitch was in great condition. With a strong wind prevailing the match was one of 2 halves with Tullamore playing against the wind in the opening half they secured just 3 points to Kinnity’s 2-4 . However, with the aid of the wind Tullamore had a very good comeback in 2nd half and so the game became a real contest. With good saves by goalie Ciara Duffy and the backs working very hard Tullamore turned the scores on the board with a full-time score of Tullamore 4-06 Kinnitty 2-06. A well-deserved win after all their hard work and having lost the last couple of games by 1 & 2 points - they are a very determined group with a great attitude.

WHITE TEAM: Ciara Duffy, Emma Walsh, Lauren Healion, Amelia Cunningham, Zoe McMahon, Chantelle Ward, Bridgita Matic, Alicia Holton, Grace Connolly, Ella Sheridan (1-01), Penny Carroll (1-03) Méabh Martin 1-02 (2fs), Lexi Kane, Millie May Lawlor (JC) 1-00, Annabel Donegan (JC), Sophie Tuohey, Gracie Molloy, Maia Kinnarney, Jill O'Donnell

U12 teams

Our U12 players had a busy week – first up was the summer camp and then the Caman to Leinster event, followed by u12 league matches on Thursday last.

CAMAN TO LEINSTER EVENT

Tullamore was among 64 teams from all over Leinster to take part in the 2026 invitational Caman to Leinster event held in Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow. Playing in some heat our 20 girls played some brilliant camogie in matches against Round Towers, Clondalkin, Pilton Kilkenny, and Marshallstown Co Wexford. A stop for refreshments on the return journey was much appreciated by all after a hectic schedule of matches. A most enjoyable event.

Focus Agri U12 League

Both club teams in this age group played their 4th round games last week. Our home game played by the blue team was against Kilcormac/Killoughey. It was a very keenly contested match with the lead exchanging on a number of occasions in the first half. The second half saw Tullamore advance on the score board despite the trojan efforts of Kilcormac/Killoughey to break down Tullamore’s defence line. Tullamore athleticism paid off and their ability to put the ball over the bar which in this competition counts for 3 points was the telling factor in Tullamore coming away with full points from the game leaving Tullamore on top of the group.

BLUE TEAM: Gracie Molloy (2-0), Nicola Sviderska, Nora Rouse, Maia Kinnarney, Emily Killeavy, Jill O Donnell (1-5), Priya O Reilly, India Holton, Amelia Keys, Ciara Duffy

Kasey Bryant, Laoise Kelly (1-3), Aisling Condron, Evie Mahon, Sinead Murray, Ella Cunningham, Aoibh Martin (1-0), Emilia Ferreira

Our white team travelled to Tober to play Brosna Gaels who have one team in the league. Our young players played with great grit and never gave up through what was a well-played match. Brosna Gaels deservedly took the honours which sees them on top of the group 3 chart with strong victories in all their games.

WHITE TEAM: Isla Mordon, Nessa Cummins, Evie Lawlor, Katelynn Leavy, Sinead Murray, Grace Cronly, Jessica Addlington, Kasey Bryant, Aoibh Martin, India Holton, Anna Pyke, Keeva Lambe, Ella Cunningham, Evie Mahon, Grace Conlon, Aine Scally, Ciara Kelly, Maebh Boyce.
