YES - It is irresponsible and deserves punishment

NO - What a parent does with their child is their business

A judge in Clare has reportedly threatened parents with jail over their failure to keep up their child's school attendance record. 

This has sparked a debate at whether the law should intervene in this way when children are not being sent to school regularly by their parents.
