FR Seamus Dunican Remembered
Fr Seamus’ 2nd anniversary was celebrated at masses in Killina on Sunday, January 22; in Mucklagh on Tuesday, January 24 and in The Island on Saturday, January 28.
The main celebration was in Killina where the mass was attended by members of his family and also present were members of the Irish UN Veterans Association, Unit 27 from Portlaoise who presented a UN Peace Keepers Medal (Posthumous) to Fr Seamus Brother Michael in recognition of Fr Seamus’s three terms of Duty as chaplain with the Irish Defence Forces in Lebanon, while he was Army Chaplain in Gormanstown.

Mucklagh Women’s Group
The group meets at Child’s Play Preschool, Brocca Roadd every Tuesday from 7.30 - 9.30pm. All welcome.
A clinic will be held in Mucklagh Nursing Home on Friday, February 3 at 2pm and in Rahan Hall on Friday, February 10 from 1pm onwards. All toes welcome.

Ballycumber Area Defibrillator Scheme
The Ballycumber Area Defibrillator Scheme will hold its AGM on Wednesday, February 1 at 8.30pm in the Ballycumber GAA Centre meeting rooms. All members are asked to attend and new members are always welcome.
It is hoped to set up a new First Responder Scheme on the night and also make plans for the year ahead. This will be a busy year for the scheme and as many people as possible should become involved. Anyone who wishes to be trained or retrained in CPR and in the use of a Defibrillator can contact any committee member.
The lotto numbers drawn on January 23 were 5, 13, 24,29. There was no jackpot winner and the one match three winner was Veronica Sweeney (A Kelly’s).
Membership for 2012 is now due and must be paid by February 29. Membership payments must be paid to the Club Registrar, Brian Kearney, or any committee member. The fees for 2012 are as follows Adult Players €50, Student / Apprentice (with appropriate ID) €25, Minors (U18) €15 and Non Playing / Social Members €20.
Senior Citizens Party
The Annual Shamrocks GAA Club Senior Citizens Party will take place in St Carthage’s Hall, Rahan, on Sunday, February 19. More details later.
For those who would like to help out with the general cleaning and the upkeep of the church, a meeting will be held in the Church after 7.30 mass on Wednesday, February 1.
Mucklagh, Rahan and The Island (MRI) Community Games is holding a Talent Competition on Saturday February 11 at 4pm in Killina Secondary School.
