Waterways Ireland has recently advertised the availability of one-year serviced mooring at Shannon Harbour. Following extensive work last year, there are now seven serviced berths ready for occupation in Shannon Harbour. Full details and application forms are available on their website, The deadline for completed applications is February 23.

Open Night

An open night for sixth class students and their parents/guardians will take place at Banagher College on Thursday, February 2 at 7.30pm.

Drama Group

Following their successful staging of the Cripple of Inishmaan in Banagher last November, Banagher Drama Group is bringing the play to the Tuar Ard theatre in Moate on Friday and Saturday, February 3 & 4 at 8pm and on to Birr for two nights, Friday and Saturday, February 10 & 11. The performance on Friday, February 10 is in aid of St Rynagh’s Camogie Club. Tickets priced at €14 are available from any committee member or ring Pasquelina (087-1894778) or Celine (087-7841560).

Ladies Club

The club will resume on Wednesday, February 1 in the Community Centre at 8.30pm. The guest speaker will be Helen Maloney from Aloe Vera Forever.

Candlemas & St Blaise

Blessing of candles will take place at the 9.30am Mass on Candlemas Day, Thursday, February 2. Blessing of throats for the feast of St Blaise will take place at both the 9.30am and 7pm Masses on Friday, February 3.

Tidy Towns

Banagher Tidy Towns will meet on Tuesday, February 7 at 7.30pm in Crank House. This important planning meeting will highlight all the activities and desktop projects undertaken over the Christmas period by members.

We now have a core group of 30 members and invite more members to help in project planning and organization. We have over 20 projects planned to enhance our town that need your expertise. We are also looking for volunteers to give only one hour per month on a rota basis to assist in carrying out a variety of these projects and litter picks to enhance our town and try to bring it back to life, which may lead to a number of positive outcomes including tourism and jobs for the future.
