Colaiste Iosagain in Portarlington will host their third annual 5K run on Friday May 2.
The run will start and finish in the school grounds and will commence at 11.30am that morning.
The students and teachers will run around the streets of Portarlington and all support on the day would be greatly appreciated by everyone taking part.
The majority of students have registered for this event and they are busy during their PE classes and after school training for the event.
The route is down the Bog Road as far as Marian Hill, turn right into Spa Street, around by the leisure centre, up Main Street and back to the school.
Excitement and anticipation are already rising in the school ahead of this eagerly awaited event.
There will be prizes for first home but more important for most students will be the sense of achievement of completing their first 5K run.
However there will be some who are taking part for the third time.
Amongst these are undefeated boys champion, Evan Clancy and last years girls’ senior champion, Claire Faherty, who was junior champion the previous year behind girls senior champion, Libby Waldron.
Both of these will be hard to beat but perhaps the most fiercely fought contest will be between undefeated teachers champion, Christopher Booth and his rival, Conor Mitchell.
It is hoped that everyone will support the event.
