Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival celebrates success

THE 43rd Annual Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival drew to a very successful conclusion after a very succesful programme of events.

THE 43rd Annual Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival drew to a very successful conclusion after a very succesful programme of events.

A number of competitions were run by the Organising Committee throughout the week.

The Singing & Swinging pub competitions provided great entertainment with the eventual victors in the Singing category being Kelly’s of the Green in first place with runners-up The Swan whilst in the Swinging category The Chestnut took first place with Nolans as runners-up.

The Bulls Eye Quiz Final took place in Milne’s on Thursday night with a very tight match played out between The Thatch and The Swan with the former coming out on top.

To round off the festival week the final of the charades took place in Whelahans on Friday night with Haverty’s the victors over Nolans

The Vintage Shop Window Competition in association with Mid-Ireland Tourism winners were first Purcell Auctioneers/Memory Lane Antiques, second Sue Ryder, third Butlers Pharmacy and fourth Secret Essence.

The winners of the Vintage Costume Competition in association with Birr Chamber of Commerce were Best Dressed Man, Michael Coughlan, Best Dressed Lady, Deirdre Lally and Best Dressed Child Fia Lally.

The Organising Committee would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came out and got involved in these occasions – it was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and participation throughout this year’s Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival.
