Following on from their recent All Ireland success at Scór in Killarney which was their third win in four years, Clara Ballad Group are formally launching a CD of eight songs of which six were part of their All Ireland successes on Friday June 22 at Doc’s Bar in Clara.
These include such favourites as ‘Galway Bay’, a Jim McCann classic ‘Aisy and Slow’, a Shane McGowan penned number ‘The Broad Majestic Shannon’ the groups own interpretation of ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘Gentle Annie’ which they performed in this year’s All Ireland Scór final.
Having already sung for the President in Arás an Uachtaráin and in front of over 45,000 people in Croke Park, Clara Ballad Group are the most successful group to have taken part in the GAA Scór finals which involves 2,500 GAA Clubs and spanning over forty years of competition.
The CD will be priced at €10 with all proceeds to going to Laois Offaly Families for Autism (LOFFA). All the costs associated with the making of the CD have been kindly sponsored by one of Clara’s own, International Golfer Shane Lowry who is a nephew of Paul and John Scanlon, two members of the Group. Shane will also formally launch the CD which takes place in Doc’s Bar and Lounge in Clara on Friday June 22 at 9pm.
The CD was recorded at the studios of Midlands 103 by kind permission of Albert Fitzgerald and produced by sound engineer Robbie Donnelly. Compere for the night will be Barry Flynn.
The Ballad Group will perform many of their songs on the night and look forward to welcoming their many supporters, family and friends to what will be an outstanding night’s entertainment.
