Mass in Ballycommon Church at 10am is a Months Mind for Kathleen Brazil, Kiladerry and also a birthday remembrance for Kathleen Cuskelly, Wood of O (100th birthday) and an anniversary Mass for John Feery and deceased family members, Rathdrum.

Cemetery Mass

Cemetery Mass for Ballycommon will be celebrated this Friday June 29 at 8pm.


Deepest sympathy is extended to the Mahon family, Ballycommon on the death of their mother, Maureen and to Fr Paddy O’Byrne, on the death of his sister. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Deepest sympathy is also extended to the Monaghan family on the death of Joe. May he rest in peace.

Ballycommon Community Playschool

Due to local demand it is proposed that the Community Playschool will temporarily move to Kilmurry Hall next September. As a result the Playschool can now offer a number of new places. As there are a very limited number of places available anyone interested in availing of these should please contact Carmel at 086/3863358 ASAP. The new places will be allocated on a strictly first come basis.

Well done to the children who graduated from Playschool this year and congrats to everyone who took part in a wonderful end-of-year concert and party which took place in Kilmurry Community Hall last week.

Ballycommon Church

Baptisms in Ballycommon Church for the month of June and July will be on Sunday July 15 at 12.30pm.

Parent Toddler Group

The Parent/Toddler group is on its summer break at the moment but will resume next September in the Playschool Prefab.  Thanks to everyone who supported or helped out in the group. Enjoy the summer break and it is hoped to see everyone back in September.

BOLD After Schools

The After School had a busy time coming up the end of the school year, with lots of events and parties. A wonderful art exhibition of all the childrens’ acrylic work delighted the large attendance at the exhibition on Wednesday night, June 20.

Congrats to Killian Brennan who won the Chess Master trophy and to James Dunne, runner-up Chess Master, toMichelle Gorman (Jnr. Draughts Champ) and to Cathal Ryan, runner-up.

Congrats also to all the children who successfully gained their music medals, ranging from Bronze 1, Bronze 2 up to Silver 1 and to everyone who participated in the end-of-year competitions and activities.

The staff and committee wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable summer break and would like to thank all the parents and children for their support during the past school year.

Welcome baby Jake

Welcome to the Christian community baby Jake Maher who was christened recently. He is a son of David and Michelle, Ballin Ri.

Good wishes to Michael Conneely (Jnr) who is on the injured list and will be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks. Get wll soon Michael. Good wishes also to those who sick at home or in hospital. Hope they get well soon.

Ballycommon GAA

The next GAA draw will be held next Saturday night June 30. Tickets can be purchased from any club member.

Ballycommon GAA Walking Track

The walking track at Ballycommon GAA pitch is now complete and is open to non members. The fee for non members is €20.00 and must be paid in full prior to use.

Slieve Bloom Photography Club

The Slieve Bloom Photography club is teaming up with Tullamore Credit Union again this year to take photographs of the entries in the Tidy Estates competition.
