Dóchas – Offaly Cancer Support Group in association with Tullamore Harriers are holding the 9th Annual 4 mile run/walk (formally organised by Boston Scientific) takes place on Sunday May 6. This event is AAI approved and it caters for the serious runner and fun runners/walkers.
Dóchas are calling on all families, clubs and groups to enter in the event and run/walk in their club/group colours. Dóchas is an Offaly Cancer Support Group and they are asking all the people in County Offaly to support this most worthwhile event. Entry to the event is €15 or by filling up a sponsorship card.
The run/walk will begin at 11.30am sharp at the Tullamore Harriers Club on the Charleville Rd, Tullamore and is expected to be very well attended as per previous years.
You don’t have to be an athlete to take part, it’s a fun run. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to enter and to get their friends and family to enter as well.
Dóchas provides holistic support to cancer patients and their families which complements primary medical treatments with education and psychological care. The aim of Dóchas is to provide supportive care including factual information and social contact to reduce feelings of isolation, enabling people with cancer to achieve maximum independence and quality of life. Services from Dóchas are provided free of charge.
The main Dóchas office is in Offaly St, Tullamore and Dóchas currently operate an outreach centre in Birr.
Dóchas depends on fundraising and this is one of their main annual fundraising events. So please come out and support what promises to be a most enjoyable morning – by the way there will be a cuppa in the Tullamore Harriers at the end of the event.
