THERE was never any doubt that the ladies of the Killeigh area are a glamorous lot, but just to be certain they were out in force recently when a three day event called Glamour in the Village was held in Langtons.
Organised by local woman Aideen Byrne of The Frock Exchange, the event was an opportunity to browse through the many beautiful vintage and nearly new (but much loved) garments on offer or to avail of Catherine Sullivan’s Make Up Artistry or for Claire Langton of Poise Hair Salon to work her magic.
“It’s a sign of the times” explained Aideen. She added, “One lady who came to us had a designer suit she bought as Mother of the Bride, she wore it once. It cost her €1,300 and we sold it for €300 and this was split 50/50. People just cannot afford to leave quality garments sitting in their wardrobe when they can sell them and either save the money or re-fresh their wardrobe with other nearly-new designer garments.”
Such was the success of the ‘Glamour in the Village’ event and the enthusiasm of the people who attended that Aideen and Catherine and Claire are already planning similar events in other locations. Contact Aideen for further details on 087 909 0220.
