The Offaly Historical and Archaeological is running a course on doing Family History starting on 24 February at OHAS, Bury Quay, Tullamore at 8pm for four nights only.
The lectures are as follows and all will be illustrated February 24 Burial and cemetery records John Kearney, Margaret White and Stephen McNeill
March 3 Preparing your own family history book – Darrell Hooper March 10 Digital books for family history on the internet and others and in other formats – Noel Guerin and Michael Byrne
March 14 The sources for family history on the internet – Noel Guerin and Michael Byrne – Monday not Thursday to note St Patrick’s Day week
Please note that each talk with participation from the group is strictly limited to two hours from 8pm to 10pm and with a short break of about ten minutes. This programme is limited to 25 people and the cost is €30 per person and will extend over four evenings. The most recent Irish Times course was advertised at €750. The speakers at OHAS give their time free. The small charge is for a heated room and coffee. Participation is limited to 25 so book early to avoid disappointment.
