Offaly Macra debating team on a winning streak

LAST Saturday February 26, Offaly Macra Rainbow team took part in the first round of the All Ireland Macra Debating Competition.

LAST Saturday February 26, Offaly Macra Rainbow team took part in the first round of the All Ireland Macra Debating Competition.

The debate took place in The Maldron Hotel, Portlaoise and their opponents were from Rathdowney.

The Offaly rainbow team comprising of Susan Cleary, Kate Ryan, Eimear O’Donovan and Noel Duffy had the hard task of

opposing the motion that 16 year olds should be on the voting register. They were many ideas for and against this motion like the Constitution, voting in other countries, jury duty, the Irish cirriculum to name but a few and in the end they came out the triumphant team.

They now go on to the next round which is to be confirmed.
