GRANTS have been approved by the Board of Offaly Local Development Company for a number of organisations and committees in the North Offaly area.
In welcoming the news Cllr Noel Bourke remarked, “I’m pleased that Edenderry Swimming Pool has been allocated a grant of 75% to a maximum of €48,643 for the development of a Hydro-Therapy Zone.”
Cllr Bourke said that this will enhance the facilities available at the pool and attract more people to it.
He outlined how grants have also been approved for a number of Festivals throughout the county and among them are Edenderry 3 Day Canal Fishing Festival (€2,259), Daingean Homecoming Festival (€2,566), Ballinagar Community Festival (€3,040) and Portarlington Festival (€1,329). These grants will be paid after the Festivals have been held.
“As a member of the Board of Offaly Local Development Company I am pleased to have been in a position to support these applications and I wish the various organisations well in the use of these grants which I know will be put to good use and will benefit their communities,” said Cllr Bourke.
Cllr Bourke concluded by saying that these grants are allocated under the Rural Development Programme and details of the qualification criteria for grant aid from this programme are available from Offaly Local Development Company Limited.
