Tullamore martial arts seminar and family day

THERE will be a martial arts seminar and family day on Saturday, April 23 in the Tullamore Court Hotel in aid of the Japanese Tsunami Relief fund.

THERE will be a martial arts seminar and family day on Saturday, April 23 in the Tullamore Court Hotel in aid of the Japanese Tsunami Relief fund.

A gathering of highly ranked martial artists from different styles including two world champions in Kickboxing and Kyukoshin Karate and Europe’s first ever black belt in Kenpo Karate.

Master Graded Instructors from Escrima, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, Jujutsu, Aiki Bujutsu, Kobojutsu, Shotokan Karate, Karate Jutsu,Taekwondo, have come together to provide training to 400 students.

Officials from the Japanese Embassy and Local Dignitaries will be welcomed at 11am with The Tullamore Town Band, Japanese and Irish Musicians and Dancers. The dignitaries will then formally open the event.

There is a full day of family events around the seminar from 1pm – 5pm including magic shows, children’s entertainer, Nail and Beauty Therapies, Japanese arts and crafts, Card readings, live music from 1 pm - 5pm with Tony Devine, Paul Skelton, Karen Martin, Brendan Keeley and Alan Lawlor, and each musician will be playing for an hour in the hotel bar.

At 5.30pm the martial artists will be performing a demonstration which will be open to the public. That evening there will be a benefit Concert starting at 8.30pm – 1am at a cost of €10 per ticket, the line up includes Best Foot Forward, Night Life and Alibi.

On Sunday April 24 in the Tullamore Court Hotel there will be a full fun family day which includes GAA Target Games with intercounty stars, Children’s Disco, Face Painter, and Easter Egg Hunt from 12pm – 4pm.

This weekend Saturday April 16 in the Bridge Centre Tullamore from 1pm there will be a martial arts display and ticket sales for the event. On Sunday April 17 the CK UTD football team are having a sponsored leg wax in DeBruns Tullamore with live music at 6pm from The Voyagers, DJ Keith and Hush.
