Congratulations to Gallen Community School’s Traditional Music group called “Gile Gailinne” whose excellently compiled musical composition put together in CD format, made sure that Gallen CS are one of a select few schools nationwide who have qualified to take part in a Musical Workshop hosted by Donal o Connor and Sheila Denver

Congratulations to Gallen Community School’s Traditional Music group called “Gile Gailinne” whose excellently compiled musical composition put together in CD format, made sure that Gallen CS are one of a select few schools nationwide who have qualified to take part in a Musical Workshop hosted by Donal o Connor and Sheila Denver

This competition represents a great opportunity to showcase the diverse musical talents in the school and the Gile Gailinne group is made up of Joe Maher singing an old Irish song called ”Slan na Maighe”, Joe is accompanied by Claire Ann Kearns [piano, accordion], Chloe Flynn [accordion, flute], Ruth Hennessy [fiddle], Sarah Hennessy [Piano, Accordion, Concertina, tin whistle], Niamh Kenny [fiddle, guitar, harmony], Niamh Duffy [tin whistle] and Paddy Cosgrave [bodhran].

Well done also the the school’s football players Daragh Corbett, Conor Lowry, Eoghan Lowry, Aaron mc Donagh, Ciaran Cahill, Brian Grehan, Joe Maher, Blaine Rigney and Ryan Delaney who have made the Offaly minor football squad.
